Math Confidence Testimonials

"Thanks, Robin, for making my worst subject my favorite subject! Before we started working together, I dreaded every math test. Now I actually look forward to them! You taught me that confidence is the greatest skill needed to excel in math, and boy, were you right! Once I had a taste of math success, I was hooked for life. "
Elizabeth Rivera, Horace Mann 7th grader, 2011

Robin,
I want to tell you about Helen's success as a result of working with you.  Helen was always a good student but math was her weak subject.  Once when I was talking to her about that she told me "Dad I'm not good at math." Now after working with you and her mother, who utilizes methods and resources that you shared with her, I've overheard Helen telling her friends "I'm good at math" and she relishes solving new math problems and recognizes the relationships and logic that is the beauty of Mathematics

Kind Regards,
Ross Vassallo and Hui Hsien Wang, PS 81 parents, 2011

I attended one of Robin's workshops ("Using 'Good Wrong Answers' to Achieve Math Confidence and Success") at Hunter College.  Everything was presented in a non-threatening manner.  She was thorough with her explanations and the work presented was unique.  We had the opportunity to work collaboratively and spin ideas off one another.  Lastly, I was able to maintain contact with Ms. Schwartz.  She has been gracious enough to entertain all of my mathematical queries. With eighteen years under my belt, I still have room to grow.  Her workshop provided me with another lens through which I can view mathematical ideas, learning, and processes.

"I learned more in this three week class than in my entire Math career.  Thank you!"

"I learned new strategies and how not to use the calculator"
Michael Z, College of Mount Saint Vincent, College Algebra 2011

"After taking this Math in high school and struggling, you made it understandable and easier"
Michael Shea, College of Mount Saint Vincent business major, Precalculus 2010

I never really liked math until I met Robin. From ninth grade on, I had difficulty paying attention, keeping track, and staying on target. Consequently, my confidence faltered and I was unable to make the grade. Robin worked with me step by step, explaining the methodology and logic behind each concept. After a few weeks, with her my grades improved, after a few more, my attitude did too. Although I most likely will never major in math or a math intensive field, it's nice to know that now I could if I chose to. Thank you, Robin.

Solomon should be so proud of his scores on the Math SAT and Math SAT II, placing him in those upper percentiles.  But I know who made it all possible.
Thank you again, Robin for the hard work, unfailing enthusiasm, and constant encouragement that you give to my son.
Since Solomon is aiming for a science career, we feel he must have a solid foundation in math.  Neither I nor my husband (nor the other tutors we hired in the past) could have given our son what he now has.  Solomon enjoys math.  He is confident and casual and secure in his knowledge, and looks forward to more advanced, more challenging work.
